Open letter from Hizb ut-Tahrir Scandinavia to Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of Somalia

Today, 11/19/2014, Denmark is hosting a large international meeting for foreign ministers, along with Somalia and the UN, in relation to the colonialist initiative - The High Level Partnership Forum (HLPF). The central agenda of the meeting is Somalia's food crisis and the humanitarian situation in the country.

The Danish Minister for Commerce and Development, Mogens Jensen, visited Somalia back in August 2014, where he stated: "The food crisis in Somalia is spreading, and there are now over 1 million people in urgent need of food aid, and 2.1 million need means not to fall back into an acute need of food. In addition to that, there are too many malnourished children who are in need of our help to survive."

This statement is indeed an expression of a horrid western hypocrisy. The reality is that Somalia and the rest of the Islamic Ummah, does not need the crumbs from the hand that stole their bread - nor do they need medical care from the one who caused their bloodshed. Every war and civil war in the Horn of Africa over the last several decades has been financed with American dollars and European funding.

Famine caused by drought is a natural occurrence, but foreign intervention has aggravated the situation in the Horn of Africa. While the West has been eager to spend trillions of dollars to wage war around the world, and while thousands of civilians are being killed in the process, they have shown deliberate negligence of the humanitarian disasters, which can easily be eliminated at a fraction of the price. Today is not the first time the world sees pictures of starving babies in Africa!

The entire Horn of Africa has suffered from a tumultuous history. In 1884, European nations agreed to colonize Africa. Britain, France and Italy each demanded political authority over different parts of the area now known as Somalia. For 40 years, Britain controlled northern Somalia because of its favorable access to the Red Sea, while Italy ruled over southern Somalia, and France controlled the neighboring Djibouti.

Both the Italian and British territories gained "independence" in 1960 and merged to form the current Somalia. The country's incumbent president was assassinated in a military coup in 1969; only 9 years after the Europeans' political handover. Muhammad Siad Barre became Somalia's new president in 1969 and established "Barre's Supreme Revolutionary Council" as the only political party in Somalia.

In 1991, Mohamed Siad Barre was removed from power, and a power struggle took place between warlords, who received their military supplies from the West via American ships. US used this instability as a pretext to insert some 30,000 troops in Somalia. The mission was a failure, and it resulted in a humiliating withdrawal by the United States.

In 2006, the US ordered their loyal agent, Ethiopia, to brutally invade the country in order to remove "the Islamic legal council" (SICC), which led to more than 1 million refugees, who have now been displaced from the subsequent fighting. The US proxy war led by Ethiopia, against the Union of Islamic Courts (UIC) further destabilized the region, and laid the foundation for the current crisis.

The wealthy Muslim countries on the other side of the Gulf of Aden have not been better than their Western masters. In the past eight years, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and their likes, have given unlimited credit and financial support to US banks during the global financial crisis, while turning their backs on the Ummah’s economic needs in Somalia. Children dying from hunger, and the Arab rulers are scrambling to rescue US banks and engage in the bombing of Muslims in Syria and Iraq.

A sincere advice to you, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud

Today's meeting aims to enslave Somalia and chain its future of to the ever-hungry Western colonizer. The West does not have, and will never have, a sincere concern for the children of this Ummah – they are only concerned about their own interests. So, if you worry about your meeting with Allah (SWT), then be true to your responsibility and do not enslave the country to foreign governments. Do not lend your hand to the one who wounded you yesterday, and pretends to be your savior today. This colonialist Trojan horse, disguised as charity, has already demonstrated its destructive consequences in many African, Asian and Latin American countries.

The famine in East Africa is a vital problem for all Muslims, and the source of these problems is the western political hegemony over the Muslim countries. The solution is to cut all political ties to the colonialist Western countries and reunite the Muslim lands under an Islamic Khilafah. Only a state based on Sharia will once and for all bring an end to foreign meddling, and make the necessary resources available for the people and not foreign corporations.

In conclusion, we remind you of the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (saas) that prohibits Muslims from being political dependent on non-Muslim powers:

لا تَسْتَضِيئُوا بِنَارِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ

"Do not ignite your torch with fire from the mushrikeen." Reported By Ahmad

If you act accordingly, you will gain honor in this Dunya, as well as success in Akhira. If you choose to go against it, then only humiliation awaits you, both in this life and the next.
